Using AirDictate
AirDictate is a macOS dictation and meeting preparation app provided by Northbase Ltd. These terms apply to the app and this website. Use AirDictate lawfully and only with content and services you are entitled to use.
The current release is free to use without an app licence or subscription. This describes the current release, not a promise that every future product, service or release will remain free. Any future paid offer will have its terms and price shown before you choose to buy it.
Your content and recordings
You retain your rights in the recordings, documents, notes and other content you bring to AirDictate. Using the app does not transfer ownership of that content to Northbase Ltd.
You are responsible for obtaining any permissions or notices needed to record a conversation, import documents or send information to a cloud provider. Respect participants' privacy, workplace rules, confidentiality commitments and applicable recording laws. Do not use the app to access or disclose information without permission.
AI and third-party services
Optional OpenAI features require your own compatible provider account and API key. The provider's terms, availability, usage limits and charges apply separately. Free app access does not include OpenAI usage credit or remove provider charges.
AI output and speech recognition can contain mistakes, omissions or invented information. Review transcripts, meeting notes, suggested questions and other output before relying on them, sharing them or making decisions. They are tools to assist your work, not a substitute for appropriate professional advice.
Other apps, hosting services, model downloads, update services and external links are operated under their respective terms. We do not control their continued availability.
App licence and fair use
Northbase Ltd permits you to install and use the app for its intended functions. The app, branding and website remain protected by their owners' intellectual property rights. Separate open-source and model licences continue to apply to the components they cover.
Do not distribute malware through the service, interfere with other users, attack our infrastructure, or evade reasonable security controls. Nothing in these terms removes permissions or exceptions given to you by law or by a component's own licence.
Your device and data
Keep your Mac and API credentials secure, maintain suitable backups and check exports before deleting originals. You control your local storage and retention settings. The privacy notice explains local processing, optional AI requests and installation and usage reporting.
Support and voluntary contributions
The Support AirDictate page is hosted by Buy Me a Coffee. A voluntary contribution is separate from app access and does not purchase a licence, a particular feature, guaranteed support, or a delivery date unless a specific offer expressly says otherwise. The payment provider's terms apply to payments and refunds handled there.
Availability and responsibility
We aim to keep AirDictate useful and reliable, but cannot promise uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every app, or error-free results. Features may change as macOS, models and external services change. Use a suitable backup or alternative process for work that cannot tolerate interruption.
Each party remains responsible to the extent required by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits your statutory consumer rights. These terms do not create a blanket waiver of responsibility for Northbase Ltd.
Updates and contact
We may update these terms for future releases or changes to the service. Material changes will be reflected in the published terms and, where appropriate, the app's release information. Contact Northbase Ltd through the AirDictate support page with questions.
